There won’t be opportunities for September street tree-pit planting this year.

The new council administration is carrying out a Spending Review & no new micro-grants are being offered at present. Maybe there will be an opportunity to re-schedule for Spring 2027? As work is likely to be still ongoing in September to improve the pavements & also the edging round the Sutherland Grove London Plane trees, postponement is probably a good thing!

However now is definitely the time to give young street trees near your home a generous dose of water!

As with all plant-watering, best earlier in the morning or later at night to avoid wastage through evaporation.

WRWA are running daily webinars 14th-18th Sept – some daytimes, some evenings to suit a variety of availability.  They say:

WRWA Education Team is here to take the confusion out of recycling.

We are inviting all local residents to free, 45-minute webinar focused purely on what can and cannot go into your home recycling bin’

(Just for residents of Wandsworth, Lambeth, Hammersmith & Fulham, and Kensington & Chelsea)

During these sessions, we will cover:

‘A clear, item-by-item guide to the materials accepted in your local recycling bin,

(paper, card, plastics, glass, and metal).

The most common “contaminants” that catch residents out – and exactly where to put them instead.

Specific rules: Which plastics are accepted? Should you crush items or leave them whole? Do labels need to be removed?’

Book your place at:  https://wrwa.gov.uk/news/recycling-webinars/
