Holding an outdoor event in January might have seemed a risky (crazy?!) undertaking, but the sun shone brightly on to Saint Cecilia’s forecourt, tempting quite a few families to attend!
No-one seemed to get cold, helped by hot drinks & breakfast rolls served by Coffee Van Man (Tony). The children seemed to really enjoy the various crafts, face-painting & archery as well as more energetic activities. The simple slide was very popular too!
We took it to be a good sign that a few families stayed almost right through the two hours of the event, meeting & chatting with other families in our area.
A HUGE thankyou to Susie & her team for their hard work & thanks to the families who turned out for ‘FAMILY FUN’ on a January morning!

SGCARA QUIZ NIGHT – The Park Tavern,
Monday 3rd November
Thanks to all who packed out the Park Tavern lounge area for the SGCARA Quiz Night last Monday.
Local actress Kitty Martin proved to be a brilliant quizmaster and we all had a lot of fun and healthy rivalry – including teams from The Grid & The Triangle.
Girdwood Road’s ‘The Cream Teatimers’ were the worthy winners, having survived the dreaded ‘Wipeout’ round!
Also participating: Never Gonna Quiz You Up (best team-name), The Know-Howes,
The Would-be-Goods, The Leonines, The Triangulators and Beryl’s Gridders.

We are delighted to showcase SGCARA’s new logo, following a competition offered to Saint Cecilia’s pupils earlier in 2025. We had invaluable support from the school. There were 6 excellent Finalists:

Sanika created this delightful winning entry, with Atifa a very close runner-up. Both received ‘One4All’ Gift Cards, generously donated by a local business who wishes to remain anonymous. We really appreciated the creativity of all entries, so the other 4 finalists also received rewards.
SGCARA ‘Sustainable September’ 2025
SUNDAY 21ST September
Thanks to all who took part in the Street Tree-pit planting event on the 21st Sept, especially to those who took on a Sutherland Grove plane tree pit! The soil in these is pretty dry & unforgiving so the plants need a big helping hand. If you live close to one of these planted trees – look for the notices – please give the plants a jug of water, although there may be more than enough rain this w/e! Maybe pop in some seeds from one of your own plants you know to be tough in all conditions.
Following the success of the SGCARA street tree-pit planting day in Sept 2024, SGCARA is delighted to have been awarded a council micro-grant once again to buy plants, bulbs, compost & seeds for residents to plant round street tree-pits.
